I'm putting a spin on !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . I want to know who here on Oppo has the best list of rare cars they have seen in the wild. If you've seen it in real life, whether it be on the road, at a show, or in a museum, it counts. I hope you have some SR20 to back up your claims! Put your list in the comments and then recommend whoever you think has the best list.

I've seen an Aventador, and a rare R8 GT Spider, an LFA....and a SAAB 9-4x. Those don't really count lol
![]() 12/02/2013 at 20:32 |

Wikipedia says they only built 574 of those Saabs... I'd say that counts!

My friend (who's mom owns one. I've ridden in it and driven it. It drives like a church, which is hilarious. It actually doesn't drive that badly, and its a low rpm torque monster) actually says its less- more like 423. I think. Aaaannndd I've seen two more of them around here. One other white one, and a black one

Lexus LF-A
Buick GNX
And last one I can think of is probably the rarest which is a 1966 Ferrari 275 GTS.

Vegas! The Auto Collection at the Imperial Palace has one on display. Its also where I saw the XJ220, Rs200's, Aztec and Tiger Hunting Rolls. They rotate stuff all the time, but i believe the 037 is owned by them

The only rare car I've seen in the wild is a Ferrari 575. I live in South Island, New Zealand. * sobs quietly * I've seen a handful of them overseas.
![]() 12/02/2013 at 20:41 |

There is a rather long list but the most exciting of them has to be the Ferrari F40, Auburn 812 Boattail Speedster, Lamborghini Aventador, and Lamborghini Muricelago

Damn, I wish I was on here back in March. Also, I wish I had a stack of index cards on me when I saw most of these over the last 10 years.

Don't worry, the hype has fizzled out. I think most people forgot about this.

I live in a wealthy suburb and a lot of people drive old Morgans, Austin-Healeys, and Jaguars, but none of them are rare. Big cities probably have more rare cars, but I avoid them as much as possible.

I'm sorry, is that a Calloway 'Vette? I've seen like 6 of them. Is there something special about this one. I'll admit, I'm pretty ignorant on specialized 'vettes.

Honestly, I'm not sure. It's the only one I've ever seen or heard of, so I assumed it was rare.
Edit: according to the Callaway Owner's Club , It looks like only 65 SuperNatural coupes were built between 1990-1996. So yeah, they're pretty rare!

Well if those count, I've seen an X-type wagon. Don't know how many were sold, but I know it was a small number.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I don't think I saw a full blown Calloway SuperNatural.

Is it sad that I get more excited seeing a shitty Alfa, or a funky french Peugeot than some of these cars?

Found a site that says Car & Driver magazine that only 1602 were sold in the US from 2005-08
Not as rare as the Saab! I didn't even know they made an x-type wagon

They've got a Shelby Daytona Coupe on display!?!

I suppose the only real "unicorns" I've seen have been the Countach, the Veyron, and the Vector W8.
Even heard the Vector revving hard, and it was incredible.

That's a nice list, I've never seen a Countach yet and I'm surprised.

- Yugo
- 1st gen Mazda MX6
-Split Window Vette (neighbors car interestingly enough)
-Cadillac Catera

I hear ya, I live in halfway between Buffalo and Niagara Falls. Love the area, but unless you're into rusty Pontiac Grand Ams or the Chevy Equinox it's not much of a car place. (Aside from the usual assortment of classic 50s/60/70s american Iron that shows up at any given American cruise night)

In late 80's I was hanging out with the car crowd at the Burger King in a town near where I grew up and a guy showed up driving a Superbird. He popped the hood and there, in all it's glory, was a 426 Hemi. It was absolutely spectacular.
While stationed in Germany I was in Berteshgaden and saw a BMW M1, white with red and blue stripes, parked. Still have a picture of it somewhere. Beautiful car.
Last year, while working, I spotted a black Caddy CTS-V wagon and followed it into KFC where the guy pulled into the drive-thru lane. I pulled up next to him, motioned for him to lower his window and asked what transmission the car had. It was a manual.

I've seen a 575 Superamerica over in Italy. There's not many of those about.
I've also seen a 250 Breadvan, whether it's genuine or not I don't know.

I think I need to plan an automobile show like Coffee & Cars you guys have over there in America. It'll be good for local businesses around here.

yup!
seriously cool place. all apparently owned by some neurosurgeon. imagine having that kind of car collection! they take them out on weekends for drives too.

sounds like a pretty novel idea if you can make it happen.

The only problem is that there's no big car park to fit many cars in my town.

hmmm. Might have to be ingenuitive there. any big lawns/fields/beaches/golf courses/ opean areas around?

I live in Arrowtown, which is 15 minutes away from Queenstown. The city has a lot of empty spaces that can be used for car shows. If I host a car show over there, it won't be very local and we won't get more people to check out the businesses around here. The only option is to shut down the entire road and have show cars parallel park alongside the road.
![]() 12/04/2013 at 18:08 |

Well, if your actually serious I'm sure you could talk to the town and see how much it would cost, and then see if you can get any of the local buisnesses on board as sponsors/vendors. Maybe not a cars and coffe, but still would be a cool event
